Method 1 (makes four Flying Geese units)
1. Cut squares to the sizes indicated in the cutting charts for the pattern you are making. Cut the larger squares twice into quarters diagonally and the smaller squares in half diagonally.
2. With right sides together, stitch a smaller triangle to a larger triangle, aligning the edges, as shown. Press the seam in the direction of the smaller triangle.
3. Position another small triangle onto the unit and stitch, as shown. Press the seam in the direction of the smaller triangle.
4. The unit is complete (see Helpful Hint).
Helpful Hint: Note that there is a ¼″ gap at the tip of the larger triangle. This is the seam allowance needed to join this unit to another piece without cutting off the point. Use a rotary cutter, cutting mat and wide plastic ruler to eliminate the extensions on three sides and straighten the edges, if necessary.
